Day 01 Arrival
AIRPORT – PINNAWELA – HABARANA

Arrive by (flt no) at (00hrs). Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. The Atro Holidays Representative will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted to the Car park / Coach Park to begin you journey.
Afterwards leave to Pinnawala and Visit Elephant orphanage.

PINNAWELA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE

App. 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo – Kandy road is Pinnawela, where an orphanage was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now; including Baby Elephants brought from various parts, as well as some of the more then 25 babies born, as a result of the captive breeding programme. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0930-1000 hrs and 1330-1400 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-1030 hrs and 1400-1430 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.Enjoy an Elephant Ride in Pinnawela.

Afterwards proceed to Habarana.

Day 02
HABARANA– MINNERIYA – SIGIRIYA – KANDY

After breakfast Safari at Minneriya National Park by jeep (Approx. 02 ½ hours)

MINNERIYA NATIONAL PARK

This area covers the former Minneriya – Giritale Sanctuary.  About 200 Wild Elephants, Wild Buffaloes, Eild Boar, Spoted Deer, Sloth Bear, Sambhur, Leopards, Crocodiles, Lackals, 9 kinds of Amphibians, 25 kinds of Reptiles, 160 speices of Birds, 26 varietys of Fishes, 78 varieties of Butterflies are recorded from the Minneriya National sanctuary.

Afternoon visit & climb SIGIRIYA Rock

SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS

SIGIRIYA Is a “UNESCO World Heritage Site” and the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the Palace on the summit of the 600-foot high rock. On its summit are the foundations of the Royal Palace, Water Tanks to supply water and all other buildings and at the edges the guardhouses. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of 21 life sized damsels still shining in their original colours. The Water Gardens, Fountain Garden, Summerhouses, Boulder Gardens and the Caves within the enclosed area should not be missed. (Approx. – 02 hours climb up and return)

Afterwards Proceed to Kandy via Matale

Evening witness a Kandy Cultural Dance Performance.

Day 03

KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast commencing city tour in Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

KANDY

The hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

TEMPLE OF THE SACRED TOOTH RELIC

Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

Afterwards proceed to Nuwara Eliya En route Visiting Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya

ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS

Royal Botanical Garden 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Kandy.  There are more than 5,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens.  Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists.

There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world are one such avenue. (Approx. 01 hours)

Day 04
NUWARA ELIYA – KITHULGALA – BENTOTA

After breakfast Visit Seetha Amman Temple and Hanuman Temple.

Afterwards commence city tour in Nuwara Eliya.

NUWARA ELIYA

The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations.  It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island, but is really just like an England spring day although the temperature does drop at night.All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence.  Houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions.

Afterwards proceed to Bentota via Kitulgala

KITULGALA (White Water Rafting)

Experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River in Kitulgala covering 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. This activity is for anyone above the age of 10 years with safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by our white-water rafting instructors beforehand. The distance covered is around 5 KM. The river and its surrounding will make you feel enchanted, with a memorable experience during your White-Water Rafting Tour in Kitulagala.

Day 05
BENTOTA – COLOMBO – AIRPORT

After Breakfast leave for Colombo

En route visiting Kosgoda Turtle hatchery and Boat Ride experiencing at Madu Ganga.

Afternoon City tour & Shopping in Colombo

COLOMBO

A drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street – the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfe dhal dating back to 1749.

Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square.

Afterwards leave to airport for departure according to their flight schedule.
